In an interactive workshop, join Artist-in-Residence Ramaa Sharma for a deep, creative exploration into how we understand heritage and how current AI systems are depicting these understandings of ourselves and the places we live.

Make a community-created aluminium sculpture for the courtyard of this historic building in Stratford!

Together, we will construct a hose, which is a nod to the building's fire-fighting history, by using silver strips and cable which will come together to create a sculptural piece of art.

This former fireman’s accommodation opened as artist studios in 2024, and with the help of the community, we are looking to improve the entrance courtyard to provide a space for the artists and visitors to enjoy.

This somatic workshop will explore how our identities can displace us from our local surroundings and communities and how we can create tools of resistance that help us transmute that loss and grief.

The workshop will be movement and writing-focused, utilising methods of somatic breath work and sound meditation, to explore themes surrounding queer identity and the intersection of location by honouring prominent queer voices that also have roots in Newham.
