Join designer, illustrator, and visual artist Lydia Thornley for a hands-on workshop where you’ll create your own mini zine capturing a slice of everyday life in 2025, ready to be sealed into the Alice Billing House Time Capsule for readers 80 years from now.
Workshop Focus:
What does an ordinary day look like, and how might it speak to someone in the future? In this zine-making session, you’ll reflect on your daily experiences and turn them into a simple illustrated story using just one sheet of paper.
What to Expect:
– A warm-up drawing exercise: tell your journey to the workshop in three frames
– A demo on how to fold and design a one-page mini zine
– Break your day into six key moments
– Plan your front and back covers
– Explore options for the fold-out centre spread
– Draft, sketch, and complete your zine for the Time Capsule
Who It’s For:
Some experience with drawing or illustration is helpful, but beginners are warmly welcomed. The session is open to all adults with an interest in visual storytelling.
What to Bring:
– Your creativity and curiosity
– Clothes you don’t mind getting marked
– A phone/camera if you’d like to photograph your work before submitting it
Note:
All final pieces will be kept as part of the Time Capsule. You’ll have time to document your work before it’s sealed for future generations.
